The National Cultural Relics Industry Vocational Skills Competition held 219 "cultural relics doctors" to compete on the same stage.
CCTV News:Protect cultural heritage and promote the spirit of artisans. Today (March 25th), the National Cultural Relics Industry Vocational Skills Competition was held in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province. 219 contestants from all over the country competed on the same stage, making traditional skills pass on from generation to generation.

There are six events in the competition, namely, wood restorer, clay restorer, ceramic restorer, mural restorer, metal restorer and archaeological digger. Each event has two links: theoretical assessment and practical operation. Movable cultural relics restored in the competition, such as metal cultural relics, ceramics and murals, are all originals. In the division of metal cultural relics restorers, what Ma Tengfei from Shaanxi wants to restore is a bronze reed of the Western Zhou Dynasty.

In fact, it is not a new attempt to restore with real cultural relics in the vocational skills competition. In 2018 and 2021, National Cultural Heritage Administration held two national cultural relics vocational skills competitions, which built a platform for practitioners in the cultural relics industry to display their skills and learn from each other.

Cyndi Luo, Director of Science, Technology and Education Department of National Cultural Heritage Administration:Because China is a veritable cultural relic country, we have a lot of cultural relics that need to be restored urgently, but the skilled talents matched with it are actually far from enough. They have to endure loneliness and sharpen their swords for ten years to learn a skill. We also want to let the whole society know more about the profession of restorers and their craftsmanship through this competition.

China is a world-recognized ancient civilization, with more than 760,000 immovable cultural relics and more than 100 million pieces (sets) of cultural relics. Holding competitions is an important way to cultivate cultural relics skilled personnel.
Fan Zaixuan, the referee of the National Cultural Relics Industry Vocational Skills Competition, mural color plastic cultural relics restorer division:Now it is gratifying to see that many young people come to participate in the competition and engage in skill competitions. It is indeed a very happy thing.

Li Qi, the referee of the National Cultural Relics Industry Vocational Skills Competition for ceramic cultural relics restorers:Through this contest, people with different experiences communicate together, cheer up together, find a sense of mission, and thus strengthen their determination to continue.
