"Mangosteen" has developed into a super typhoon with high destructive intensity, wide range of strong winds and sufficient water vapor in the cloud system in just a few days, so it will become the strongest typhoon landing in China this year.
It can be seen from the satellite cloud picture released by the Central Meteorological Observatory at 11 o’clock that "Mangosteen" has been approaching the coastal area of the Pearl River Delta.

The Central Meteorological Observatory continued to issue a typhoon red warning today: at 12 noon today, "Mangosteen" was located on the sea about 205 kilometers south-east of Taishan City, Guangdong Province. It is estimated that it will move to the north-north direction at a speed of about 35 kilometers per hour. It is expected to land in the coastal area from Taishan to Yangjiang in Guangdong around this evening. After landing, it will continue to move to the north-north direction, passing through western Guangdong and southwestern Guangxi, and its intensity will gradually weaken. It will weaken into a tropical depression near the junction of Guangxi, Yunnan and Guizhou around the 18th.

At 9: 40 this morning, the Hong Kong Observatory upgraded "Typhoon Signal No.9" to "Typhoon Signal No.10", which is also the highest tropical cyclone warning signal in Hong Kong. At the same time, the Hong Kong Observatory also issued a red rainstorm warning signal.
At 11 o’clock this morning, the Macao Meteorological Bureau changed to hang the No.10 typhoon signal. Since the evening of 15th, all ships from Macao to and from Hong Kong have stopped sailing, and the entry and exit ports of Macao have also been closed.
Affected by Typhoon Mangosteen, Shenzhen Airport suspended all flights on the 16th. All inbound and outbound flights of Zhuhai Airport were also cancelled on the 16th. After September 17th, Zhuhai inbound and outbound flights will gradually resume operation depending on the weather conditions.
As of last night, North China Air Traffic Control accepted 143 scheduled flights cancelled by typhoon at the Capital Airport on the 16th, including 73 outbound flights and 70 inbound flights.
